I can easily say that we plan to engage with Oasis Private Chefs the next time we are in St. John

We engaged Shaibu of Oasis Private Chefs for a dinner while on our recent visit to St. John.  From the reservation, to his arrival, to the cooking, and finally the cleanup the entire process was professionally scheduled and delivered.  Our group had diverse tastes ranging from steak to fresh seafood and Shaibu was able to handle them all with ease.  Each dish was delicious and reflected the flavor of the islands.  I fondly remember the delicious salad, NY Steak and tasty key lime pie.  My kids loved their BBQ ribs and my wife and sister-in-law enjoyed their fresh seafood.  Eating at our island home gave us a chance to enjoy a beautify sunset and relax in the comfort of our home.  I can easily say that we plan to engage with Oasis Private Chefs the next time we are in St. John.

Oasis Private Chefs Experience should be on everyone’s bucket list.

Chef Shaibu generously gave his skills in support of the Friends of the Virgin Islands National Park and we were fortunate enough to make the winning bid and have dinner prepared at our villa. What a wonderful evening!
Chef Shaibu is engaging, talented, organised and a brilliant chef. He used locally sourced products throughout the evening.
Our menu started with appetisers of conch fritters served with lemon aioli. Tender, suculant and delicious these made us realize that we were in for a fabulous dinner.
Once seated at the table we had Mango-Avacado tartar served with pesto marinated cherry tomatoes and sprouts. Refreshing, delicious and flavoursome as everything had been appropriately marinated.
Our main course was Coconut BBQ spare ribs served over sautéed kale and roasted local pumpkin. Chef Shaibu’s BBQ sauce was to die for amazing. Mixing the sweetness of Coconut with the traditional to create a “Cuban”style sauce.
Finally we had caramelised bananas served with tiramisu gelato. A fitting finish to an excellent meal.
The evening was accompanied by careful and interesting discussions about the preparation of the food, the sources of the products and Chef’s Shaibu’s personal experiences on his journey from Ghana to New York to St John. A great story of perseverance and success.
The evening was arranged apparently effortlessly and imagine our surprise when we finally rose from the table to find the kitchen, clean, the washing up finished and no evidence of the preparation of the magnificent feast we had enjoyed.
We would highly recommend Chef Shaibu to anyone seeking a special occasion in their home/villa. We will be having him visit again on our next trip to St John as we had a memorable evening.
Thanks to Chef Shaibu for his generosity to the Friends of the Virgin Islands National Park as otherwise we would never have considered using his services and now we definitely will.
This experience should be on everyone’s bucket list
